Tue Jul 14 - Leave the U.S for Basel, Switzerland
Wed July 15 - Board the MV Heidelberg in the late afternoon. Basel is ideally located at the crossroads of France, Germany and Switzerland. Basel is a typical Swiss city with its Gothic style town hall and market place, and magnificent manor houses.
Thu July 16 - Strasbourg, France
Visit the Alsatian historic district known as "Petite France". Here, the lovely narrow streets are lined with timbered buildings. Strasbourg has an outstanding complex of monuments in a very compact area, which is characteristic of a medieval town. Visit the Gothic cathedral.
Fri July 17 - Mainz, Germany
The heart of the old town is Markplatz, dominated by the six spires of St. Martin's Cathedral. Built in 975 AD, much of the Romanesque architecture still remains.
Sat July 18 - Rüdesheim, Germany
Visit the beautiful town of Rüdesheim known for its excellent wines. Take a stroll through the Drosselgasse.
Today we will pass through the Lorelei Passage between Rüdesheim and Braubach. Legend has it that a siren named Lorelei bewitched the hearts of sailors as they looked up to the rock.

Overlooking Braubach is the medieval Marksburg castle set on a 480 foot rock. As you gaze at this massive structure you can enjoy a walking tour and explore this wonderful city.

Mon July 20 - Bernkastel, Germany
This town is located in the heart of the Moselle region, one of the region's largest wine-producing areas. Besides outstanding wine, the city is famous for its half timbered houses..
Tue July 21 - Trier, Germany
This is Germany's oldest city and site of many Roman buildings, monuments and churches. At the end of the 3rd-century, Trier was known as the "second Rome". A highlight will be a visit to the Porta Nigra, the only surviving gate of the Roman era.
Wed July 22 - Koblenz, Germany
Enjoy magnificent views of Koblenz from the Ehrenbreitstein Fortress that is set at the confluence of the Rhine and Moselle. Discover the beautiful Schangelbrunnen. (fountains)
Thu July 23 - Düsseldorf, Germany
Explore the Königsallee, Düsseldorfs chic shopping avenue. Later walk through the old town.
Fri July 24 - Amsterdam, Holland
Holland's picturesque capital is a unique city with its many canals and bridges. The 17th century houses on the canals are a perfect example how prosperous Holland was at that time. Visit the Rijksmuseum or Van Gogh museum. You may get a private tour by Pieter Meijers.
Sat July 25
Cruise ends. After breakfast we will go by motorcoach to the Kurhaus in Scheveningen. The Kurhaus is one of Europe's most spectacular hotels on the North Sea Beach adjacent to the Hague.
Sun July 26 - Scheveningen, Holland
Today a Jazz brunch is planned at our hotel with entertainment by our musicians. Afterwards you will have free time to explore.
Mon July 27
Midmorning we will leave for the beautiful city of Delft and for a visit to the Maurits Huis museum, with its famous collection of 17th century paintings in The Hague. Farewell dinner at the Kurhaus that evening.
Tue July 28
Transfer to Schiphol airport for your flight home. |
